The Foxwell NT301D Dual Function Radio Scanner Review

foxwell nt301

When someone thinks of a radio scanner they think of the brand name "Foxwell NT301". The latest product to come from the Foxwell range of radios is the NT301D.

A few notes: I am not a professional tech and this review will not be a professional look at the Foxwell NT301 scanner. I will just give my personal opinion on the product.

The brand-name product cost $250, and the product has been discontinued due to poor sales. Now there is an equivalent of the NT301 for about the same price. The upgraded model is the NT-301D.

So what does the "D" stand for? The D stands for the dual function feature. It has two different units and they can be controlled separately. That means you can listen to both the radio scanner and the scanner.

I know this may seem like a little additional cost for the cost of the radio scanner, but in my opinion it works out a lot better than buying one single radio scanner. When you buy a radio scanner you cannot control both functions. In addition, many times there are some additional costs involved when buying more than one radio scanner.

The Dual Operation capability is a big plus for me. What if you are listening to your scanner while you are driving to the beach and have your kids asking for Mommy.

Now you are out the way with your children, but what about all that extra money you spent on the dual functionality of the scanner? It will run a little bit more expensive, but it is definitely worth it in the long run.

You could purchase the Dual Functionality radio scanner and keep the dual functionality of the other models. Of course, you will also have to add more money into the package cost. But I would rather add more money into the radio scanner than the dual functionality as the price difference will only be a few hundred dollars or so.

Another point of the NT-301D radio scanner that is important to me is the fact that it is waterproof. People that live in a home with a basement, like myself, like the fact that it is water resistant. If you have kids and you are out in the backyard running around in the yard, then the water might get on the radio scanner and cause it to stop working.

While I was in the basement fixing a leaky pipe, there was a wonderful option to hear the frequencies coming through the walls. I believe it is a geartrain and is called radio flat.

Just like any technology that is improved, the technology that a device works with is always subject to change. New radio scanners are coming out every day, and sometimes new features make the older models obsolete, so that makes me happy to see the new features available.

I also want to say that I did a good job finding information on the internet and eBay. I hope you found this review helpful.
